Wine tastings
Bootleg conducts regular tastings every Friday and Saturday evenings between
5 & 8 pm.
This is a great way to wind down on the way home after a hard week, meeting
up with wine connoisseurs and tasting-beginners.
It is also a great way to try different wines before you buy and have a chat
about the latest releases and trends with friendly staff in a relaxed
atmosphere.
Occasionally a wine maker will drop in to add his or her expertise to the
evening.
Upcoming Tastings

Wednesday 16th July Stuctured Tasting (bookings essential) Pettavel Wines

The Goss from recent tastings.
We have been lucky to taste some spectacular wines over the past few weeks,
but as usual there are always a couple of standout wines that got the
tongues wagging and the taste buds working overtime.
The winter months have seen a resurgence in red wine drinking particularly the more unusual varieties presented at tastings. Some of our recent weekly tastings included wines from: Henschke, Karl Seppelt, Pizzini, O’Leary Walker and Cape Mentelle just to mention a few.
In addition to our regular Friday and Saturday evening tastings some of our patrons have been fortunate to enjoy an intimate evening in our Wine Room with Wine Makers associated with Yalumba, Vasse Felix and Howard Park Wines
Look forward to catching up at the next great tasting!

Best's Great Western Wine Dinner.
Bootleg's was honoured to have Viv Thomson, wine maker and owner of Best's Great Western vineyards. Viv and wife, Christine, were splendid guests, taking time to speak with each guest table individually. Viv spoke kindly about the efforts made
by independent retailers, such as Bootleg, to promote the smaller
boutique wineries over commercial labels owned by the large multi-national
companies, ran an interesting "Options" game where most of us had
difficulty
identifying a slightly chilled, current vintage, Rose style Grenache, and
generally entertained us throughout the evening.
All wines tasted were well
received, with the most popular being the 2001 Bin 0 Shiraz, the fantastic
value 2003 Bin 1 Shiraz and the surprisingly good 2004 Riesling (most guests
not expecting Great Western to be able to produce such quality Riesling).
Alkoomi Wine Dinner
Owner/Wine Maker Merv Lange discussed some of his highlights from over 30 years of wine making. Amazingly viniculture was at first an alternative crop for the Lange family to supplement the existing farm enterprise. Almost 80 guests packed into the function room at the Rosstown to enjoy the magnificent wines and outstanding food.
The ‘Options’ game as usual proved fiercely competitive and resulted in some every bizarre questions being asked. This wine was the Alkoomi Wandoo Semillon and was well received by all.
